Splinter Creek

Finding a sense of place while living lightly on the land.

Problem:

Splinter Creek is a beautiful tract of land all based around three stunning lakes which lumber contractors discovered and felt it was too beautiful to fell. Located just outside the historical college town of Oxford Mississippi, they wanted Studio Sanderson and myself to attract people to living with natural beauty and wildlife with their brand identity helping to reveal this story.

Solution:

The identity reflects the story of the location – each property is nestled between forest and lake, with only natural barriers to delineate property boundaries. The identity combines the modernity of the property architecture whilst also evoking the sense of adventure. The idea of ‘Living Lightly on the Land’ and leaving only elements worth preserving is something that guided the approach to all communications even down to the signage throughout the reserve, made from local stone.

‘Stewards for Better’ was the mantra that Studio Sanderson created as a guiding principal for the approach to the brand identity. This was then developed across a website and various marketing communications to help open peoples eyes to this home location.
